Safety & Quality Manager

JOST Australia Pty. Ltd is a global leader in manufacturing and producer of safety critical products and components for commercial vehicles, our product range includes couplings, axles, suspension units, trailer systems, and waste-handling equipment.   We are seeking an experienced Safety & Quality Manager to provide technical support and expertise across our Australian and New Zealand operations.  Due to the nature of the work and the industry, this role is an onsite position based at our National Head Office in the Melbourne suburb of Laverton North.  We see this role as vitally important to the entire Team and the Organisation as we strive to improve in all areas of safety and continue our journey towards best practice in everything we do.

About the role…

Operations:

• Maintain and enhance the Safety & Quality systems meeting the requirements of ISO45001 & ISO9001.

• Implement process improvements using lean methodologies to improve safety, quality and efficiency.

• Conduct root-cause analyses of production quality issues, supply infractions and warranty claims.

• Support Production & Warehouse Operations teams on any changes required to ensure compliance to ISO45001 & ISO9001.

• Maintain awareness of current industry needs and expectations for safety and quality and through establishing relationships with the industry, associations and government bodies in the fields of heavy transport manufacture, transport infrastructure and logistics.

Risk & HSE:

• Manage Supplier & Contactor safety management.

• Coordinate and manage the yearly internal and external audits across all sites.

• Support State Managers in maintaining compliance to the ISO9001 and ISO45001 standards and preparing their sites for internal and external audits.

• Maintain regular contact with Quality Managers at Suppliers & Customers, to ensure proper investigations and findings are reported (NCR & 8D reports).

• Ensure corrective actions are identified and completed for all audit non-conformances.

• Manage the reporting of safety events and maintaining accurate documentation related to safety management.

• Comply with JOST’s Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Health, Safety and Environment management systems, including statutory obligations.

Must have experience…

• Tertiary qualification related to the role or in a relevant field.

• Qualification or strong experience with Safety & Quality Management Systems.

• Experience with ISO45001 & ISO9001 auditing

• Demonstrated history within industrial environments.

• Structured 8D root cause analysis.

• Management of required reporting, compliance and corporate governance.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments including sales, production and interstate teams.

It’s a bonus if you have…

• Experience working within the automotive sector is highly regarded.

• Previous experience with the Donesafe system
