About the role
The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-informed speech pathology services to children and young people with developmental delay, neurodivergence and disability. Working within Treehouse's multidisciplinary team, the Speech Pathologist supports children to develop communication skills that enable meaningful participation in their everyday lives. This includes supporting speech, language, social communication, literacy foundations, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), feeding where appropriate, and overall participation across home, school and community environments.
Treehouse is committed to a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming and family-centred approach. The Speech Pathologist will work in partnership with children, families, educators and other professionals to deliver therapy that is practical, functional and meaningful to each child's goals and daily life.
Key responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive speech pathology assessments for children with developmental delay, disability and neurodiverse support needs.
Assess communication across areas including speech sound development, receptive and expressive language, social communication and pragmatic language, early communication and play, literacy readiness and language foundations, fluency and voice where appropriate, and feeding and mealtime skills within scope of practice.
Assess functional communication in everyday environments.
Select and administer appropriate standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.
Develop individual therapy plans that reflect each child's strengths, goals and functional needs.
Monitor progress and adjust intervention strategies based on outcomes and ongoing assessment.
