About the role
For over a century, Surf Life Saving Tasmania (SLST) has been at the heart of community safety — keeping Tasmanians safe at the beach through our volunteer lifesaving services, and rescue response capabilities.
We are also proud to deliver water safety education, accredited training, and outdoor activity programs that build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills across the state.
SLST is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation governed by a skilled and committed Board of Directors. With 18 affiliated clubs and over 3,300 members, we’re focused on creating safe coastal communities, supporting our volunteers, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of lifesaving in Tasmania.
As a Director, you'll contribute at a strategic level to an organisation with real community impact. You don’t need have a background in surf life saving — SLST values diversity of thought, experience and leadership, and welcomes applications from people with a broad range of professional and community backgrounds.
SLST is committed to maintaining a balanced and diverse Board. We particularly encourage applications from women to help maintain the Board's gender balance while ensuring appointments continue to be made on merit. Directors are appointed for a term of up to three years.
