OPERATIONS MANAGER

Lead the people, processes and workflow behind one of South Australia’s leading signage businesses

Signs SA – Signarama Salisbury is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of our business.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a senior leadership position responsible for managing the complete workflow across our design, print, production and installation departments.

This is not a hands-on production role although you will be assisting when required. We are looking for an experienced operational leader who can manage through people, improve systems and processes, anticipate challenges and keep the business thinking two steps ahead.

You will work closely with our General Manager, department coordinators and wider leadership team to ensure projects move efficiently from sale and design through to production, installation and completion.

The role

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall coordination, performance and continuous improvement of our operational departments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and supporting the Design, Print, Production and Installation teams

• Managing the complete operational workflow from project handover through to completion

• Ensuring jobs are properly planned, resourced, scheduled and delivered

• Working with department coordinators to establish clear priorities and accountability

• Identifying potential workflow, capacity or resourcing issues before they affect delivery

• Monitoring project deadlines, productivity, quality and operational performance

• Developing and implementing improved systems, processes and operating strategies

• Ensuring strong communication between Sales, Design, Production and Installation

• Reviewing workloads and ensuring labour, equipment and external resources are used effectively

• Supporting managers and coordinators to develop their leadership and decision-making capabilities

• Driving a culture of accountability, forward planning and continuous improvement

• Maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, safety and customer service

• Providing the General Manager with clear operational reporting, recommendations and solutions

• Helping prepare the business for continued growth and increasingly complex projects

About you

You will be an experienced operations or production leader who understands how to manage multiple departments, competing priorities and deadline-driven projects.

Signage experience will be highly regarded but not essential.

Importantly, you will be someone who leads through structure, communication and accountability - not by trying to personally do everyone else’s job.

You will ideally bring:

• Demonstrated experience in an Operations Manager, Production Manager or comparable senior leadership position

• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex operational workflows

• Strong people leadership and team-development skills

• The ability to manage managers, supervisors or department coordinators

• Excellent planning, scheduling and problem-solving capabilities

• A process-focused mindset and a genuine interest in continuous improvement

• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of productivity, labour and operational costs

• The confidence to challenge existing practices and introduce better ways of working

• The ability to remain calm, organised and decisive when priorities change

• Strong communication skills across operational, sales and senior-management teams

• A practical understanding of workplace health and safety, quality control and operational compliance

Experience within signage, printing, manufacturing, fabrication, construction, fit-outs or another project-based production environment would be highly regarded. However, direct signage experience is not essential if you have the right leadership and operational-management background.
