Casual Professional - Research Assistant Talent Pool - Level 3 - 5 - LAWRES

The Faculty of Law & Justice is seeking expressions of interest from motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Casual Research Assistant Talent Pool.

This talent pool will support a range of research projects across the Faculty, including both Law and Criminology disciplines. Successful applicants may be contacted as casual research opportunities arise throughout the year.

As a Research Assistant, you will provide research and administrative support to academic staff and research teams across a variety of projects. The nature of the work will vary depending on the project requirements and may include both independent and team-based research activities.

About the Role

Research Assistant opportunities may involve:

• Providing research and administrative support to research projects and academic staff.
• Collecting, entering and maintaining research data and databases.
• Assisting with data analysis and statistical reporting.
• Undertaking research support activities using established research methodologies.
• Liaising with research participants and stakeholders.
• Assisting with the preparation of ethics applications, grant applications, abstracts and progress reports.
• Preparing research documentation, manuscripts, presentations and study materials.
• Recruiting research participants and supporting data collection activities.
• Transcribing interviews and organising fieldwork activities where required.
• Attending research meetings, taking minutes and participating in training sessions.
• Assisting with the coordination of research-related events and administrative activities.

About You

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

• A relevant tertiary qualification (or be nearing completion), with appointments at Level 5 generally requiring completion of a degree.
• Previous experience supporting research projects or undertaking research activities.
• Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, researchers, research participants and stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong computer literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office and other relevant software or research databases.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research environment.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and working in accordance with research ethics requirements.

Classification

This is a casual Research Assistant Talent Pool.

Appointments may be made at Research Assistant Level 3, Level 4 or Level 5, depending on the requirements of the role and the successful candidate's qualifications, skills and experience.
