Cabinet Maker/Joiner/Shopfitter

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Cabinet Maker/Shopfitter to join the team at Victorian Joinery and Shopfitting Pty Ltd. This is a full-time position based in Bayswater, VIC. In this role, you will be responsible for building, crafting, and installing high-quality cabinetry, joinery, and shopfitting solutions for a diverse range of clients. You will work with precision and attention to detail, utilising both traditional joinery techniques and modern fabrication methods to deliver exceptional results that meet client specifications and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

1. Accurately measure and prepare materials including MDF, HMR, timber, timber veneers, and composite materials

2. Operate and maintain woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently

3. Construct cabinets, built-ins, and joinery components to specification following the CabMaster plans provided

4. Install cabinetry and shopfitting solutions at client sites, ensuring proper alignment and finish

5. Perform finishing work including fillers, ends panels, and hardware installation

6. Communicate effectively with clients, team members and project managers to understand requirements and provide updates

7. Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment, complying with health and safety regulations

8. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during fabrication or installation

9. Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines and quality standards

What we're looking for

1. Substantial experience working as a Cabinet Maker, or Shopfitter, ideally with a proven portfolio of completed projects

2. Strong knowledge of materials, and finishes suitable for various applications

3. Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and accurately

4. Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications

5. Excellent measurement and calculation skills with meticulous attention to detail

6. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to project changes

8. A commitment to maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and quality

9. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites

10. Valid Forklift license, highly desirable

11. Relevant qualifications or certifications in joinery, shopfitting or cabinet making are essential
