About The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Signals & Electrical Systems, you'll contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of signalling and communications infrastructure across the V/Line network. This is a genuine graduate opportunity where you'll build on your academic learning through supervised engineering activities, site exposure and structured development opportunities.
Key accountabilities include:
Contribute to the development and maintenance of signalling and communications infrastructure. Assist with engineering investigations and technical problem-solving activities. Support the development of maintenance and construction standards. Contribute to technical maintenance plans, service schedules, and inspection and test plans. Work alongside maintainers and project delivery teams undertaking works across the network. Participate in technology development and engineering design solutions. Gain practical field experience across a range of signalling technologies under supervision. Build technical knowledge through mentoring, coaching and professional development opportunities.
Site visits form part of the role, providing valuable opportunities to see signalling infrastructure in operation, build practical knowledge, and connect engineering solutions to real-world outcomes.
About You
You’re a recent graduate or early-career engineer with a degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Computer Systems Engineering and a genuine passion for applying your technical knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. You're eager to learn, enjoy solving complex problems, work well with others, and are committed to building a rewarding long-term career in engineering.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Well-developed digital and technical literacy. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills. A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. The ability to work across both office and field environments. A current valid Driver Licence. An interest in developing specialist expertise in signalling and rail infrastructure.
Knowledge of, or interest in, transport and the rail environment is not essential, but may make the role more interesting, enjoyable and rewarding for you!
If your skills or experience don’t exactly match our listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and believe in the potential for growth and development.
