About the role
St Francis Xavier’s Primary School, Belmont, is seeking an inspiring and committed Permanent Full-Time Religious Education Coordinator to join the school’s leadership team from January 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator and faith leader to play a key role in shaping the spiritual life, Catholic identity and learning culture of a welcoming and inclusive school community.
St Francis Xavier’s Primary School is a Catholic systemic school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school is committed to creating an inclusive, innovative and nurturing learning environment where every student is supported to learn, achieve and grow.
As Religious Education Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with the Principal, leadership team, staff, students, families and parish community to strengthen the Catholic identity and mission of the school. You will provide leadership in Religious Education, support the faith formation of students and staff, and help create meaningful opportunities for prayer, liturgy and engagement in the life of the Church.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
In the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, Religious Education Co-ordinators (RECs) are recognised and acknowledged as significant religious leaders for our primary school communities. They are members of the school executive team and are tasked with the role of supporting the Principal and Parish Priest in promoting and affirming the Catholic culture, identity and mission of the school.
RECs represent the school and the teaching profession in the community, especially the parish. They are professional, ethical and respected individuals within and outside the school.
RECs develop and shape a shared vision focused on providing quality and educational experiences and learning outcomes for all students.

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2025.
