Team Lead - Fire Protection Engineer

The Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Team Lead to join our Sydney Property & Buildings team. This leadership role will drive the delivery of major projects across commercial, health, education, defence, transport, mission critical and mixed-use sectors, while growing our fire protection capability and developing our people.

What You'll Do

• Lead fire protection design and documentation for major projects.
• Provide technical leadership from concept through construction.
• Mentor and develop engineers, graduates and designers.
• Manage project scope, quality, programme, risk and budgets.
• Review designs, reports and specifications for compliance and quality.
• Build strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Support business development, proposals and market engagement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across WSP.
• Contribute to team growth, resourcing and capability development.
• Champion innovation, safety in design and continuous improvement.

About You

You are an experienced fire protection engineer with strong leadership and client management skills. You'll bring:

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• 10+ years' experience in fire protection or building services.
• Expertise in wet and dry fire systems.
• Experience delivering major Australian building projects.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and fire codes.
• Proven project leadership and commercial management skills.
• Experience mentoring and developing technical staff.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Exposure to bids, proposals and business development.
• Familiarity with Revit MEP, Navisworks and BIM workflows.
• Consulting, contractor or D&C leadership experience.
