We’re looking for a Maintenance Manager to join the team at voco Melbourne Central.

Behind every great hotel experience is a team making sure everything works exactly as it should. From guest rooms to plant rooms, lighting to air-conditioning, and the little things guests never notice — you’ll be the person helping keep it all running smoothly.

We’re after someone who knows their stuff, enjoys solving problems and can lead a team while keeping a cool head when things don’t go to plan.

What you'll get up to

As our Maintenance Manager, you’ll take ownership of the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring our property is safe, functional, well maintained and looking its best.

You’ll:

• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel

• Manage and support the maintenance team, creating a positive and collaborative working environment

• Plan and oversee preventative and reactive maintenance across the property

• Ensure hotel plant, equipment, facilities and building services are operating safely and efficiently

• Respond quickly and effectively to maintenance issues and guest-related requests - Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, Perform carpentry, painting, and other general maintenance tasks

• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment and systems

• Install and repair plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems

• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed

• Ensure that all work is completed safely and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards

• Manage contractors and external service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to standard

• Coordinate regular inspections, servicing and statutory compliance requirements

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, schedules and documentation

• Assist with budgeting, purchasing and management of maintenance costs

• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, sustainability and operational performance

• Work closely with Hotel Operations and department leaders to minimise disruption to guests and the business

• Ensure compliance with all relevant WHS, fire safety, building, environmental and regulatory requirements

• Be hands-on when required — sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to get stuck in

What we're looking for

You’re a natural problem solver who enjoys making things work — and keeping them working.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Maintenance Manager, Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager or similar hotel/property maintenance role

• Experience leading and developing a maintenance or engineering team

• Strong knowledge of hotel building services, plant and equipment

• Experience managing contractors, preventative maintenance programs and compliance requirements

• Strong organisational and time-management skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to troubleshoot effectively

• Strong understanding of WHS and relevant Australian regulations

• A genuine commitment to creating a safe and well-maintained environment for guests and colleagues

• Relevant trade, engineering or technical qualifications will be highly regarded

• Full Australian working rights

• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays when required
