Senior Regulatory Advisor - Compliance (Team Leader)

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for health professionals. We protect the public by only registering practitioners with the necessary skills, qualifications and expertise to practise safely in Australia.

As a Senior Regulatory Advisor, Compliance (Team Leader), you'll play a critical leadership role leading a team responsible for managing complex compliance matters and supporting risk based regulatory decision making.

About the role

This is an opportunity for an experienced people leader who can bring together a diverse team, build capability, drive accountability and create a high performance culture while navigating complex and sensitive regulatory matters.

Reporting to the National Manager, Compliance, you will lead a team of Compliance professionals responsible for managing practitioner compliance matters across a broad range of risk and complexity. You'll provide expert regulatory advice, oversee quality and consistency of decision making, and contribute to the strategic leadership of the Compliance function.

Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. We're seeking a leader who can confidently influence stakeholders, foster collaboration across functions, support their team through change and drive timely, defensible outcomes in a complex regulatory environment.

About you

You will bring significant leadership experience within a regulatory, compliance, investigations, legal, governance or similarly complex environment, along with:

• A proven track record leading teams through complexity, change and competing priorities.
• Experience applying legislation, policy and risk based decision making frameworks.
• Strong coaching and people leadership capability, with experience managing performance and developing capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing sensitive matters requiring sound judgement, discretion and resilience.
• A commitment to collaboration, service excellence and continuous improvement.
