About the Role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our installation team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will install residential and commercial air conditioning systems from start to finish; reading drawings, running pipework, fitting indoor and outdoor units, commissioning systems and completing quality checks before handover. You will also work alongside and guide apprentices on site.

What You Will Do

·       Install residential and commercial air conditioning systems including split systems, ducted systems, VRF/VRV systems, evaporative coolers, ventilation equipment and associated mechanical services.

·       Establish job requirements from drawings and specifications, lay out installation reference points and plan work sequences.

·       Install ductwork, grilles, diffusers, condensers, indoor units, pipework, drains and controls according to manufacturer specifications and Australian Standards.

·       Drill holes, install mounting brackets, and cut, bend and thread piping as required.

·       Connect refrigerant lines, electrical interconnections (where licensed) and drainage, ensuring correct alignment and accuracy of fit.

·       Pressure-test and leak-test systems, evacuate with vacuum pumps and charge with refrigerant.

·       Commission systems, complete operational testing, adjust controls and mechanisms, and hand over to the client.

·       Identify and rectify defects before leaving site. Complete all installation checklists and quality assurance documentation.

·       Decommission and safely remove existing systems when required.

·       Follow all WHS policies and procedures, conduct Job Safety Analyses and risk assessments, wear appropriate PPE, maintain a clean and organised work area, and report hazards and incidents immediately.

·       Complete installations within allocated labour budgets, plan work efficiently and minimise material waste.

·       Care for company tools, vehicles and equipment.

·       Work with and guide apprentices on site, supporting their training and ensuring quality standards are maintained.

About You

·       Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or equivalent (4-year apprenticeship or AQF Certificate III/IV trade qualification).

·       Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as an HVAC installer, working on residential and commercial air conditioning systems.

·       Current ARCtick licence (refrigerant handling licence) for HVAC installation work.

·       Restricted electrical licence (or willingness to obtain).

·       Current Australian driver's licence with a clean driving record.

·       Demonstrated experience with split systems, ducted systems and VRF/VRV systems.

·       Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and installation manuals.

·       Strong attention to detail, neat and professional workmanship, and a commitment to quality.

·       Good communication skills and the ability to work with apprentices and as part of a team.

·       Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test.
