Technical Support Officer

School Of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSEN: BE) are seeking to establish a pool of Technical Support Officer for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027 Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

About SSEN: BE

SSEN:BE is part of the network of specialist schools that operates under the Statewide Services pillar of Service Delivery. SSEN: BE provides educational support and services with schools for students who present with extreme, complex and challenging behaviours across a Kindergarten to Year 12 context. A continuum of consultative services including professional learning, consultative support and direct and indirect student support is delivered through Engagement Centres. The services of Engagement Centres are coordinated through SSEN:BE which provides the administrative structure that oversees and manages these services as a statewide model of supports for schools, teachers and students. The services complement other teams working in networks, regions and schools, supporting a greater number of students across the State. Support is available across the public school system.

Engagement Centres coordinate the K-12 provision of the following three services:

• Professional learning to improve student engagement and behaviour
• Consultative support for schools needing additional assistance with planning for those students with very complex needs
• Direct and indirect support for individual students exhibiting the most extreme, challenging and complex needs.

The Role

The role of the Technical Support Officer is to maintain the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and network, ensuring reliability and sustainability to enhance the learning environment.

Suitable applicants will ideally provide technical advice and support on ICT-related issues, working collaboratively with administrative staff to maintain, enhance, and develop network systems across the SSENBE. The role includes delivering technical support and user training to staff within both metropolitan and regional Engagement Centres, ensuring effective use of software applications and access to systems and resources. The position may also require occasional travel to Metro and regional sites to meet operational needs, including overnight stays when undertaking regional travel where necessary.

Suitable applicants would be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of information systems and ICT equipment in accordance with the school business needs and Department of Education policies and guidelines. This includes maintaining accurate records of ICT assets and resources and the development, implementation, and monitoring of a replacement plan.

We highly value applicants who have the ability to work as part of a versatile team, liaise with other Department of Education personnel and communicate with external providers.

Experience working within a school environment would be highly desirable, particularly a strong understanding of standard operating systems and associated software applications. Applicants will be required to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, engaging with a diverse range of staff, students, and external professionals to deliver high-quality customer service. The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships, communicate effectively, and collaborate with key stakeholders is highly valued. The successful applicant should hold a current valid driver's licence as the role may require travel to various metropolitan and regional sites.
