AusIMM is the peak body for professionals in the resources industry, proudly named the 2024 Association of the Year. We deliver world class professional development, global networking and an outstanding membership program to support the careers of members and industry professionals in the resources sector.

This role is responsible for driving sponsorship, exhibition and delegate revenue across AusIMM’s major events and conference portfolio. This role identifies new commercial opportunities, builds strong industry relationships and connects organisations with solutions that support business objectives.

About the role

The position has a strong focus on proactive new business activity, including promoting sponsorship, exhibition and delegation packages to Australian and international companies. It also broadens AusIMM’s commercial reach by developing relationships with non-traditional partners from aligned industries whose products, services or expertise connect with the resources sector, rather than focusing only on mining companies.

Responsibilities

• Drive sponsorship, exhibition and group delegation sales across AusIMM’s major conferences and events.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with companies across the resources sector and aligned industries.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective sponsors, exhibitors and commercial partners.
• Explore creative and commercially sound solutions, including new package ideas and non-traditional ways to connect partners with AusIMM events.
• Develop tailored proposals and sales presentations.
• Promote delegation packages to organisations seeking brand exposure, market access, client engagement or team participation.
• Represent AusIMM at industry events, meetings and networking opportunities to grow commercial relationships.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, track sales activity and report on pipeline performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of sponsorship, exhibition and event sales processes.

About you

You are a proactive, commercially minded relationship builder who enjoys opening doors, creating opportunities and turning conversations into outcomes. You will bring confidence, curiosity and persistence, with the ability to think creatively about how sponsors, exhibitors and partners can connect with AusIMM’s events and audiences.

You must have:

• Minimum of 3 years’ demonstrated experience in business development or sales, preferably in sponsorship or events.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is desirable.
