Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Mine Operations Principal is responsible for leading all day-to-day mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient and disciplined execution across Mining Drill & Blast, ROM Management and associated supporting activities. This is a critical leadership role focused on delivering production targets, embedding operational excellence, and driving accountability through structured operating rhythms and short interval control.

You will lead Mining Superintendents and contractor teams while taking ownership of operational decision-making, ensuring production, safety and cost objectives are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Lead and take ownership of all day-to-day mining operations across the site.
• Coordinate production activities to safely deliver daily, weekly and monthly mining targets.
• Drive operational discipline through structured Management Operating System (MOS) routines, including daily production meetings and short interval control.
• Monitor production performance, identify variances and implement timely corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, statutory and regulatory obligations.
• Foster strong collaboration across Mining, Drill & Blast, Planning and Maintenance to maximise operational efficiency.
• Lead, coach and develop Mining Superintendents and the Mining Contracts Superintendent.
• Manage contractor performance to ensure alignment with production, safety and quality expectations.
• Make timely operational decisions to optimise site performance and minimise production disruptions.
• Support the Mine Manager with medium and long-term operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify operational risks, implement mitigation strategies and drive continuous improvement across the operation.
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork and operational excellence.

About You:

You are a decisive and respected mining leader with a proven ability to deliver results through strong operational leadership. You excel at bringing teams together, making sound decisions under pressure, and creating disciplined operating environments that consistently achieve production and safety outcomes.

You will also bring:

• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering, or extensive equivalent open pit mining experience.
• 10+ years’ experience in mining operations, including senior leadership or superintendent-level roles.
• Relevant Queensland statutory competency (or ability to obtain, where applicable).
• Extensive experience in open pit mining operations, including drill and blast and production management.
• Demonstrated success implementing structured operating systems, short interval control and daily production routines.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, contractors and frontline operational leaders.
• Strong understanding of mine planning principles and production optimisation.
• Excellent knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, statutory compliance and risk management.
• Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into operational execution.
