Following Balco’s recent expansion in Western Australia, we are seeking a motivated and capable Grower Relationship Manager to join our field and procurement team based at Wannamal, WA.

This is a key regional role with responsibility for developing and managing grower relationships, securing hay and straw supply, supporting crop quality outcomes, coordinating intake requirements, and contributing to the continued growth of Balco’s WA operations.

About the role

This role is broader than hay purchasing alone. It combines grower relationship management, procurement planning, quality assurance, paddock inspections, logistics coordination, intake management and operational support.

You will work closely with growers, internal site teams and management to ensure Balco secures the right volume and quality of hay and straw to meet export and production requirements.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with growers and suppliers across the Wannamal region

• Working with growers to improve hay and straw quality outcomes

• Coordinating hay and straw deliveries into the Wannamal site

• Supporting core testing, sampling, QA processes and grading requirements

• Organising and assisting casual staff during receivals, coring and sampling periods

• Assisting with grower payment planning and resolving grower-related issues

• Supporting the site with operational tasks as required

• Assisting with damaged or downgraded stock sales into domestic markets

• Representing Balco at industry events, sponsorships and local community activities

• Helping grow Balco’s supplier base and strengthen the company’s presence in the

About you

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in agriculture, hay, broadacre farming, grain, livestock, procurement, account management or a similar grower-facing role.

You will need to be practical, professional, well organised and comfortable working with farmers, contractors, site staff and management.

You will bring:

• A sound understanding of farming, hay, straw or broadacre agriculture

• Strong relationship-building skills and credibility with growers

• Good communication and negotiation skills

• Practical problem-solving ability

• Strong organisational skills, especially during peak seasonal periods

• The ability to work independently once established in the role

• A willingness to be hands-on during intake and operational periods

• A professional approach to representing Balco in the region

• An understanding of hay and straw quality characteristics, or willingness to learn

• Local regional knowledge will be highly regarded

A formal qualification in agriculture, agribusiness or a related discipline would be well regarded but is not essential where relevant practical experience can be demonstrated.
