About the Role

Total Stainless Steel is a Melbourne-based commercial kitchen fabrication business specialising in high-quality stainless steel commercial kitchen equipment.

We are seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Worker to join our fabrication team at our Oakleigh factory. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, has strong attention to detail and enjoys working with stainless steel.

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualification equivalent to Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, or relevant experience.
• Previous experience as a Sheetmetal Worker or in stainless steel fabrication.
• Experience working with stainless steel and aluminium.
• TIG welding experience is highly desirable.
• Experience with stainless steel polishing and finishing.
• Experience using guillotines, folders, rollers and general fabrication equipment.
• Ability to read and work from workshop drawings.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Laser cutting experience is advantageous but not essential. Training can be provided to the successful applicant to operate our laser cutting equipment.

Key Duties

• Read and interpret workshop drawings and specifications.
• Measure, mark out and fabricate stainless steel and aluminium components.
• Operate guillotines, folders, rollers and other fabrication equipment.
• Operate laser cutting equipment, with training provided where required.
• Fabricate commercial kitchen benches, cabinets, sinks, splashbacks, shelves and other stainless steel components.
• TIG weld stainless steel components.
• Grind, dress and finish welds.
• Polish and finish stainless steel to a high-quality standard.
• Assemble and inspect fabricated components.
• Assist with on-site installation and modifications when required.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workplace.
• Follow all company WHS policies and procedures.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required by management.
