Ruma Rooftop Pty Ltd seeks a passionate Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. Set in the heart of New Farm, Ruma is a rooftop escape shaped by tropical warmth and effortless style. The restaurant offers quality-led dining using fresh, seasonal produce and a vibrant, considered cocktail and wine list. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and is eager to grow and contribute creatively to a dynamic menu.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure quality.
• Prepare, season and cook food according to the restaurant menu or any such food items from time to time introduced by the restaurant.
• Observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Regulate temperatures of kitchen equipment such as ovens and grills.
• Substitute for or assist other cooks where required.
• Bake, roast, grill, or steam fish, meats, vegetables, and other foods.
• Portioning, plating and garnishing food.
• Coordinate with and supervise work of kitchen staff.
• Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs, special event needs and dietary requirements.
• Train other kitchen staff and apprentices when required.

Desirable Criteria

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, or Certificate 3 including two years of on-the-job training, Certificate 4 or above.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-first environment.
• Exceptional levels of cleanliness and organisation.
• Good communication skills.

We are offering excellent working conditions and an annual salary package of $80,000-$83,000 plus Superannuation.
