QE Innovations Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter to join our team on a full-time basis at our facility in Port Kembla, NSW. This is a critical position within our operations, where you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and maintaining precision equipment and mechanical components. As a Workshop Fitter, you will play an essential role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products, contributing directly to the success of our manufacturing operations and customer satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
Assembling and fitting mechanical components and equipment according to technical specifications and drawings
Measuring and aligning parts using precision instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and dial gauges
Operating machine tools and hand tools to prepare, adjust, and fit components
Inspecting finished work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications
Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing corrective actions
Performing routine maintenance and servicing of workshop equipment and machinery
Collaborating with other team members, supervisors, and engineering staff to meet production schedules
Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used
Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental procedures within the workshop
What we're looking for
Completed apprenticeship or formal qualification in fitting, mechanical engineering, or a related trade discipline
Proven experience working as a Workshop Fitter or in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering blueprints
Competent use of precision measuring instruments and ability to work to tight tolerances
Solid knowledge of machine tools and workshop equipment, including lathes, mills, and drilling equipment
Sound understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and assembly methods
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team
Valid driver's / Forklift license required
Current First Aid Certificate and willingness to maintain other relevant safety certifications
Experience in the industrial, defence, or heavy engineering sectors would be advantageous
