Role Description The Graduate Software Engineer (Hybrid, Entry-Level) will support the development and maintenance of VFX Portal’s web-based platform and internal tools. This part-time role is based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day tasks include implementing back-end features, writing clean and maintainable code, assisting with bug fixes, contributing to API integration, and participating in code reviews under the guidance of senior engineers. The role also involves collaborating with product and design teams to refine requirements, testing new functionality, and documenting technical solutions. This position is designed to help early-career engineers build practical experience in a supportive environment focused on visual effects technology and job discovery.QualificationsSolid foundation in Computer Science principles and software development practices.Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.Basic experience with Back-End Web Development, including server-side logic and APIs.Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply feedback to improve code quality.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in debugging and testing.Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in hybrid teams.Relevant degree or ongoing studies in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows is beneficial.
