The Department of Education Approved Specialist Surf Science Program is offered at John Tonkin College. This program engages students in marine environment studies and outdoors pursuits and is suited to students who have a strong academic work ethic.

The Role
In this leadership role, the successful applicant will oversee the effective management of the College’s administrative, financial and operational functions, providing strategic advice and support to the Principal and Executive Management Team. The role will manage student administration and information, financial resources, budgets and reporting, ensuring business operations are aligned with legislation, Department policy and the College’s strategic objectives.
The successful applicant will lead the delivery of quality human resource services, supporting workforce planning, recruitment, induction, leave management, performance management and staff development, while contributing to a positive organisational culture. The role will also oversee the effective management of College facilities, assets, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and resources, ideally ensuring appropriate processes are in place to support a safe, efficient and well-managed environment.
The successful applicant would need to possess strong leadership capabilities, to lead corporate functions of the college across two main campuses and a third offsite facility, which is a highly complex task. Building strong relationships will ideally be central to the role, with the successful applicant developing effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and representing the Executive Management Team on College-based committees. The role will also manage communications, promotions and marketing activities, supporting the College’s profile and promoting its initiatives, programs, staff and student achievements.
The successful applicant will contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans, identify opportunities to improve service delivery and ensure effective systems, procedures and controls are maintained across the College. With a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement, the role would provide informed advice, manage competing priorities and support the College to achieve its strategic objectives.
