Student and Community Engagement Officer- Liverpool Study Hub

• Employment Type: Full-time contract role until November 2027 (potential of extension)
• Remuneration: $108k + 17% super and leave loading
• Location: Liverpool (On-site role)

The Liverpool Study Hub is a community-driven space designed to improve tertiary access and boost success for current and future students of any Australian university, TAFE or tertiary provider. Why your Role Matters:
As a Student and Community Engagement Officer, you will oversee engagement events and activities at the Liverpool Study Hub. Bringing your deep understanding of tertiary education pathways and student experience, your role oversees initiatives that encourage membership of the Hub and use of its services to support tertiary education participation and retention.

Working in collaboration with Hub staff, UNSW teams and external partners, you will support the Hub in extending its reach to improve the tertiary experience for local students and community members, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Through communications and community outreach, the role raises awareness of the Hub, encouraging Hub membership and participation, and promotes pathways into tertiary education for students from diverse backgrounds.

Your day-to-day focus will include:

• Creating a welcoming and inclusive student environment that fosters connection, belonging, engagement, and successful completion of studies.
• Overseeing the roll-out of an engaging communication plan across digital and print channels to inform students and community about Hub activities and services (social media, newsletters, website updates and promotional materials).
• Developing initiatives and events that improve service delivery, implementing a calendar of student and community engagement activities
• Encouraging strong ties with local community organisations, employers, council, schools, UNSW teams and other stakeholders through outreach activities to increase participation and uptake of Hub use through early connection and access to programs and resources
• Delivering and promoting high-quality services, including study skills, university processes and referral services.

The role reports to the Hub Manager to deliver high-impact outcomes aligned with the program’s mission to improve access and boost success in higher education by increasing awareness and use of the Hub, offering inclusive, educational services tailored to Liverpool’s unique needs.

Who You Are: You’ll hold a strong foundation in Australian education/community support, experienced in guiding individuals from diverse backgrounds through domestic tertiary education enquiries, and student support pathways. Skilled in building rapport, managing engagement strategies and developing communication pieces.
You’ll bring the following skills and experience:

• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering student, community and stakeholder engagement initiatives, including planning and coordinating events, activities and programs.
• Ability to prepare engaging communications across digital and face-to-face channels, including social media, newsletters, websites and promotional materials, using tools such as Canva, Drupal or SendGrid.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to build productive stakeholder relationships to enhance student engagement and promote pathways into tertiary education.
• Ability to provide high-quality frontline advice, information and support, exercising sound judgement, empathy and discretion.
• Knowledge of the higher education sector, student lifecycle and the challenges affecting participation and success for students from diverse, equity and underrepresented communities.
• Please note a cleared WWCC will be required and provided by the candidate prior to starting this role.
