At the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA), your work contributes directly to a more efficient, transparent, and sustainable Australian health and aged care system. We support the Australian Government by providing robust, evidence?based price determinations and pricing advice that help ensure hospital and aged care services are funded fairly and effectively.

As an independent agency, we promote transparency and value for money in the delivery and funding of care across Australia. Our vision is a sustainable care system that is accessible, resilient, and delivers high?quality outcomes for all.

A core part of our work involves collecting and analysing detailed activity and cost data from states, territories, and care providers. Using national classification systems, we group similar treatments, diagnoses, and services to accurately compare costs. This information underpins the national efficient price and national efficient cost for public hospital services, guiding the Australian Government’s funding contributions in each jurisdiction.

We also use costed activity data to provide pricing advice for aged care services. This advice informs government decisions on pricing for residential aged care, residential respite, and in?home aged care.

To be eligible for these roles, applicants must possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in a quantitative discipline.
• Strong technical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in producing analytical code using tools such as SAS, SQL, or Python.
• Background in statistical methods and quantitative analysis to generate data insights and contribute to development and refinement of complex models.
