Field Service Technician

Introduction to the role
We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our Service Operations Support team. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with technical problem-solving and customer support between the client, product division and our sales team. Your role plays a crucial part in performing and coordinating service activities relating to our machines, spares and wears - keeping our clients operating at full capacity.

This position is located in Mackay, and you will report to the Field Service Manager - East.

Main responsibilities

• Complete field machine inspections

• Provide hands-on mechanical service work in the field to Metso customers

• Provide technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnel

• Perform technical evaluations and analyse equipment and machine component failures

• Understand drawings and schematics to ensure correct processes are followed

• Supervise and oversee Field Service projects on customer sites

• Escalate questions and analysis to Technical Support and Engineering

• Support quotation work by providing scope of work, initial planning and costing information

• Promote products and services to customers

• Prepare post site reports, timesheets and expenses after site visits

• Promote Technical Support value add and support Technical Support Teams

• Some Interstate and some international travel may apply. This role comes with some physical work requirements.

To succeed

Essential

• A Mechanical trade qualification from college or technical school, OR• Three to six years relevant experience and/or training• Demonstrate understanding and compliance to safety regulation and standards

• Physically fit and able to pass a medical, with no site restrictions to perform duties

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics

• Ability to travel within short notice

• Understanding operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

• Ability to read and understand a variety of written instructions

• Ability to complete basic engineering calculations such as basic algebra, geometry etc.

• Provide standard hand tools applicable to task

• Current driver’s license

Desirable

• Basic rigging and dogging understanding

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence (Word, Excel)
