Field Service Technician

Introduction to the role

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our Service Operations Support team. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with technical problem-solving and customer support between the client, product division and our sales team. Your role plays a crucial part in performing and coordinating service activities relating to our machines, spares and wears - keeping our clientsoperating at full capacity.

This position is located in Mackay, and you will report to the Field Service Manager - East.

Main responsibilities

Complete field machine inspectionsProvide hands-on mechanical service work in the field to Metso customersProvide technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnelPerform technical evaluations and analyse equipment and machine component failuresUnderstand drawings and schematics to ensure correct processes are followedSupervise and oversee Field Service projects on customer sitesEscalate questions and analysis to Technical Support and EngineeringSupport quotation work by providing scope of work, initial planning and costing informationPromote products and services to customersPrepare post site reports, timesheets and expenses after site visitsPromote Technical Support value add and support Technical Support TeamsSome Interstate and some international travel may apply. This role comes with some physical work requirements.

Essential

A Mechanical trade qualification from college or technical school, OR Three to six years relevant experience and/or training Demonstrate understanding and compliance to safety regulation and standardsPhysically fit and able to pass a medical, with no site restrictions to perform dutiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to read and interpret mechanical schematicsAbility to travel within short noticeUnderstanding operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to read and understand a variety of written instructionsAbility to complete basic engineering calculations such as basic algebra, geometry etc.Provide standard hand tools applicable to taskCurrent driver’s license

Desirable

Basic rigging and dogging understandingAbility to write routine reports and correspondence (Word, Excel)
