About the role

STEELBOT FABRICATIONS is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fabricator and Welder to join our team in Melbourne, VIC. This is a full-time ,part time ( Morning evening shifts available) position that plays a crucial role in our fabrication operations, contributing directly to the quality and timely delivery of structural steel projects. You will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials, and executing precision welding and fabrication work to meet industry standards and client specifications.

• Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications to fabricate structural steel components accurately

  • Universal Beams and columns, welding beams and columns.

  • Structural Steel Fabrication

  • Welding beams and cutting steel

  • Onsite work

• Perform various welding techniques including MIG, TIG and stick welding to join structural steel members in accordance with relevant standards and quality requirements

• Assemble structural steel components using jigs, clamps and fixtures to ensure precise alignment and fit-up

• Conduct visual inspections of welds and completed assemblies to verify quality and conformance to specifications

• Maintain and care for welding equipment and fabrication machinery, reporting any faults or maintenance requirements

• Work safely at heights and in confined spaces when required, adhering to all health and safety protocols and site procedures

• Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used

What we're looking for

• Formal welding qualification or demonstrated extensive experience in structural steel welding and fabrication

• Proficiency in multiple welding processes including MIG, TIG and stick welding

• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and engineering specifications

• Experience operating fabrication machinery including plasma cutters, grinders, band saws and drilling equipment

• Current and valid Australian driver's license

• Commitment to health and safety practices and willingness to work at heights with appropriate certifications where required

• Current fork lift license.

• Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour involving heavy lifting and repetitive tasks

• Preferred: Knowledge of AS/NZS 1554 welding standards
