The Opportunity:

We are seeking a capable and driven Mechanical Design Draftsperson to strengthen our design team as our business continues to grow. This role is a full-time position based at our head office in Forrestfield.

As a Mechanical Design Draftsperson, you will be expected to use SolidWorks + PDM to produce design solutions in 3D & appropriate production documentation in a timely manner. You must also be comfortable to support workshop prototype testing and confidently problem solve / propose design solutions such that the equipment functions correctly.

Instructions will be given to you by the Engineering Manager.

 Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

·       Produce 3D Models using SolidWorks & create manufacturing drawings to AS 1100.
·       Produce assemblies & associated production documents.
·       Reverse engineering.
·       Generating design solutions as per client requirements & brainstorming.
·       Manage drawing system integrity in product data management system (PDM).
·       Testing prototypes, modifying designs for continuous improvement.
·       Working independently & as part of a cohesive team.

  Minimum Requirements:

·       A genuine passion for mechanical engineering / machine design / product development.
·       Advanced Diploma in engineering.
·       Strong practical understanding of manufacturing / machinery.
·       Experience designing moving parts actuated by hydraulics or pneumatics.
·       Sound knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM).
·       Sound GD&T knowledge.
·       Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
·       Excellent organizational & time management skills.
·       Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
·       Must have working rights in Australia.
·       Excellent problem-solving skills.

Highly Desirable:

·       Experience in exploration drilling or mobile plant.
·       Can provide a portfolio of work demonstrating skills & experience.
·       Electric over hydraulic design skills for precise machine control and automation.
·       Sound knowledge of design standards.
·       Can provide metallurgy/material selection skills & advice.

Bonus Skills - Engineering - Alternative Role Available:

·       A bachelor’s degree in engineering.
·       Hand calculations in accordance with relevant design standards.
·       Confident in FEA analysis using ANSYS.
·       Can produce certifications & engineering reports.
