Senior Purchasing Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Purchasing Officer to join Fuji SMBE Harwal Pty Ltd in Rydalmere, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in our procurement operations, directly supporting the company's supply chain efficiency and cost management objectives. As Senior Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for managing high-value purchase orders, vendor relationships, and procurement strategies that directly impact our manufacturing and logistics operations. What you'll be doing

• Managing the procurement of materials, components and services required for manufacturing operations, ensuring timely delivery and optimal value for money

• Sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers, conducting negotiations to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms

• Processing purchase orders and managing the order-to-delivery cycle, liaising with suppliers to confirm specifications, delivery schedules and payment terms

• Maintaining accurate inventory records and monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages whilst minimising excess inventory

• Developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance within the purchasing department

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers, resolving any issues or discrepancies promptly

• Analysing purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategic sourcing decisions

• Preparing procurement reports and presenting recommendations to senior management regarding supplier performance and purchasing strategies

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations and quality standards in all procurement activities

• Training and mentoring junior purchasing staff where applicable, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within manufacturing, transport or logistics sectors

• Demonstrated expertise in supplier management, contract negotiation and cost analysis

• Strong proficiency with procurement systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and Microsoft Office applications

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

• Sound understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management and procurement best practices

• A proactive approach to professional development and a commitment to staying current with industry trends

• Desirable: Experience with inventory planning, demand forecasting or logistics coordination

• Desirable: Relevant qualifications such as APICS CPIM, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) certification or equivalent
