LifeHouse Care Op Shop Leader

About the role

This role is based at the Moree Op Shop, a community-focused retail space aligned with LifeHouse Care's mission. You will lead community engagement, volunteer development, retail operations, and financial stewardship while maintaining a welcoming, safe environment for staff, volunteers, and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Build a strong understanding of the Moree community, its people, needs, and opportunities

• Develop relationships with local organisations, agencies, and community groups

• Maintain a welcoming Op Shop environment where people feel safe, valued, and connected

• Activate pathways between the Moree community and LifeHouse Church, encouraging participation in volunteering and wider church engagement

• Maintain weekly community engagement through two social media posts

• Recruit, induct, train, and empower volunteers from Moree, including referrals from Workforce Australia, Probation & Parole, and other local programs

• Foster a positive, supportive volunteer culture that values each person's contribution

• Maintain a well-presented, fully stocked Op Shop through boxing, sorting, dotting, culling, and stock rotation systems

• Oversee furniture vetting to ensure items are safe and saleable

• Achieve weekly sales targets through consistent stock flow and retail readiness

About you

• Ability to provide servant-hearted, well-presented operational leadership

• Capacity to work in a healthy team atmosphere with staff and volunteers collaborating with other agencies and LifeHouse Care team and services

• Experience in volunteer recruitment, induction, training, and empowerment

• Knowledge of retail operations, pricing, quality assessment, and visual merchandising

• Proficiency in cash handling, banking, and data entry in Google sheets

• Understanding of Workplace Health & Safety, fire safety, and retail regulations

• Ability to conduct regular safety checks and maintain high standards of health and safety practices
