Job Summary

FOODSTORE @ GAILES is seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our independent retail store.

The Retail Store Manager will be responsible for coordinating store operations, purchasing, inventory management, supplier relationships, sales performance, promotions and staff supervision. The role requires strong organisational and commercial decision-making skills to ensure efficient store operations, appropriate stock levels and a high standard of customer service.

The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers and staff to maintain product availability, manage stock effectively and respond to customer demand and changing market conditions.

FOODSTORE @ GAILES is a retail store serving the local community in Gailes and surrounding areas. We offer a broad range of grocery and food products and work with a number of suppliers and vendors to maintain a competitive product range and meet customer demand.

We are seeking an experienced and capable Retail Store Manager to manage and coordinate the day-to-day retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Coordinate day-to-day operations, including ordering, receiving, storage, display and replenishment of food products.
• Manage inventory levels and monitor sales performance and stock movement of grocery, fresh food and other products.
• Monitor supplier pricing, product availability and market conditions, and provide timely reports to management.
• Develop purchasing and promotional plans based on inventory levels, sales data, seasonal demand and customer needs.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with food suppliers, wholesalers and other vendors.
• Assess product quality, freshness, pricing and suitability before purchasing.
• Monitor product expiry dates, stock rotation, wastage and inventory levels to minimize stock loss.
• Monitor competitor activity, product ranges and pricing, and make recommendations to maintain market competitiveness.
• Supervise and coordinate staff and ensure appropriate customer service, food safety and workplace health and safety standards are maintained.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will have:

• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in retail management or a closely related role.
• Demonstrated experience in inventory management and retail stock control.
• Experience analysing sales data and using sales performance information to support purchasing and promotional decisions.
• Demonstrated experience dealing with suppliers and vendors.
• Knowledge of procurement, product selection and retail pricing.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate staff and manage day-to-day retail operations.
• Ability to work independently and make sound commercial decisions.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and food retail operations.
• Experience using current retail management software for stock management and sales data reporting is preferred.

Employment Details

• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Hours: 38 hours per week
• Work Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday
• Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 + superannuation, depending on skills and experience
• Location: Gailes, Queensland
