Disability Support Worker – Community Access Support - Canton Beach, NSW - Remote

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide ongoing support to a young participant in Canton Beach, NSW.

The participant is a young person with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is independently mobile and does not require manual handling, feeding assistance, mobility equipment, or support with behavioural concerns.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, respectful, adaptable, and comfortable taking the time to build a genuine relationship with the participant. As this is the participant’s first NDIS plan, their routines, preferences, and support needs are still being explored. The successful applicant will be comfortable learning and developing the support approach together with the participant.

There is no gender preference for this role.

Schedule

Fridays – daytime - 3 hour shiftCommunity access and household support

Responsibilities Of The Role

Support the participant to access and participate in their community through meaningful activities.Assist with household tasks while promoting independence and dignity.Build a positive, respectful and trusting relationship with the participant.Provide companionship, encouragement and practical support.Take a person-centred approach and follow the participant’s preferences and choices.Support the participant in building confidence and independence.Take the time to understand the participant’s routines, interests and support needs as the relationship develops.Maintain appropriate communication and progress notes following each support shift.Respect the participant’s individuality, identity, choices and lived experience.
