About the role
Senior Human Resources Officer
Mamu Health Service Limited (MHSL) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation committed to providing holistic, culturally safe, and community-driven services that strengthen the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Human Resources Officer to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term contract until 9 October 2027, backfilling a period of maternity leave.
About the Role
The Senior Human Resources Officer coordinates and delivers high-quality operational HR services for MHSL in a culturally safe, confidential and professional manner. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager and supervising a Human Resources Support Officer, this role coordinates day-to-day HR functions, provides practical HR support to managers and staff, maintains HR systems and workforce records, and coordinates recruitment, onboarding, training and compliance processes. The successful applicant will bring proven HR operational experience and the confidence to exercise sound judgement within approved policies and delegations.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate day-to-day HR operations and provide practical HR guidance to managers and employees.
Supervise, mentor and support the Human Resources Support Officer.
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment, selection and onboarding processes in partnership with hiring managers.
Coordinate training and development coordination, including records, bookings and compliance registers.
Maintain HR systems and prepare workforce and compliance reports for the Human Resources Manager.
Monitor employment compliance requirements, including contracts, mandatory checks and Award administration within delegation.
Selection Criteria
Cultural capability: Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, staff, families and communities within a community-controlled health service environment.
HR operational knowledge: Demonstrated experience coordinating HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, employment documentation, personnel records, training records, probation and performance review administration.
Employee relations support: Demonstrated ability to provide practical HR support to managers and staff, prepare accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality and escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately.
Award and compliance awareness: Working knowledge of employment legislation, modern awards, HR compliance requirements and the importance of accurate employment records.
Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Systems, reporting and attention to detail: Strong computer skills, attention to detail and ability to maintain HR systems, registers and workforce reports accurately.
Values and safety: Demonstrated commitment to child safety, cultural safety, equity, inclusion, workplace health and safety, confidentiality and professional conduct.
