Mamu Health Service Limited (MHSL) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation committed to providing holistic, culturally safe, and community-driven services that strengthen the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Support Officer. This is an entry-level opportunity suited to someone looking to begin or develop a career in human resources, with full training and support provided.
About the Role
The Human Resources Support Officer provides day-to-day administrative support across recruitment, onboarding, induction, personnel records, training coordination and HR correspondence. Working under the general direction of the Senior Human Resource Officer, this role applies established organisational procedures, templates and recordkeeping systems to ensure accurate, timely and confidential HR administration. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to the successful applicant.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, personnel files and HR registers.
Support recruitment processes, including preparing advertisements, collating applications, scheduling interviews and coordinating new starter induction.
Assist with pre-employment documentation, including reference checks, qualification evidence and Blue Card requirements.
Prepare routine HR correspondence, letters and forms using approved templates.
Communicate professionally with applicants, employees, managers and external providers.
Provide general administrative support to the HR function, including reception and Quality and Compliance Team assistance as required.
Selection Criteria
Cultural capability and respectful practice
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and contribute to a culturally safe workplace and service environment.
Human resources administration support
Demonstrated ability, or ability to quickly learn, routine HR administration processes including recruitment documentation, onboarding paperwork, induction records, training registers, personnel files and performance review administration.
Work under general direction
Ability to work independently on allocated tasks under general direction, apply established procedures, use judgement in routine administrative matters and escalate complex or non-routine issues appropriately.
Confidentiality and discretion
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, privacy and professional boundaries when handling sensitive employee, applicant and organisational information.
Communication and customer service
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate respectfully with applicants, staff, managers, service providers and community members.
Technology and systems
Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel, and the ability to use or learn HR, records and organisational information systems.
Prior experience in human resources is not required; however, a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are essential.
What We Offer
Structured training and ongoing professional development.
A supportive and culturally safe working environment.
Competitive salary under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners and Aboriginal Community Controlled Services Award (MA000115).
