About the team
Our Stomal Therapy and Wound Management team provides specialised care to patients across Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Led by the Stomal Therapy and Wound Clinical Nurse Consultant Team Lead, the service supports patients with stomas, complex wounds, skin integrity concerns and cancer treatment-related complications across inpatient and outpatient settings.
As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, we are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while advancing clinical practice through education, research and service improvement. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing specialist service within a world-leading cancer centre.
About the role
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Skin Integrity and Wound Management, you will provide specialist leadership in skin integrity and wound management across Peter Mac.
Working within the Stomal Therapy and Wound Management team and reporting to the Stomal Therapy and Wound Clinical Nurse Consultant Team Lead, you will support patients with complex, chronic and oncology-related wounds while leading initiatives that enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes. This role combines advanced clinical practice with education, quality improvement, pressure injury prevention, research and service development.

The Wound Management Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical leadership in wound management and skin integrity across Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The role is responsible for delivering advanced, evidence-based skin integrity and wound care services for both inpatient and outpatient populations, with a strong focus on pressure injury prevention, complex and oncological wounds and system-wide service improvement.
The Wound Management CNC will address the current gap in coordinated skin integrity and wound care services by providing specialist assessment, developing clinical pathways, standardising practices, education and leading organisational initiatives to reduce hospital-acquired pressure injuries and improve patient outcomes. The role will support both direct patient care and broader organisational functions including education, governance, audit, research, and policy development.

| Essential Requirements | • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent • Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA • Postgraduate qualification in wound management or working towards same (stomal therapy, continence, or related specialty) • Minimum 5 years’ experience in advanced wound management • Sound knowledge of NSQHS and other national standards related to Comprehensive Care • Demonstrated expertise in skin integrity and complex wound care including cancer-related wounds • Demonstrated ability in education, clinical leadership, and quality improvement • Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills • Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams |
| Desirable Requirements | • Proficient in MS Office applications including excel and MS teams • Experience in development of Quality Improvement Programs • Master’s qualification in advanced practice or related field e.g. stomal therapy • Experience in outpatient and/or ambulatory wound services • Level 1 or 2 training in lymphoedema management • Experience in research, audit, and publication • Experience in policy development and clinical governance |
