The Opportunity

We're seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to join our health and safety management team as a HSE Advisor.  Working closely with our HSE Manager, you will be responsible for advising and assisting our senior site personnel to effectively manage worker health and safety on our commercial sites.  

What You'll Do

As a key member of our safety management team, your responsibilities will include:

• Working with project teams to maintain project compliance with legislative, company and client project requirements

• Developing, reviewing, approving and implementing HSEQ management systems and core documents at a project level.

• Ensuring all works are executed in accordance with company and client requirements across Safety Management Plans (SMPs), policies, procedures and statutory requirements.

• Conducting internal audits, and communicating compliance audit results and assisting in the development of corrective action plans

• Preparing for and managing external audits, and communicating compliance audit results and assisting in the development of corrective action plans

• Conducting incident investigations, and reporting on outcomes and recommendations

• Conducting HSE inspections on projects, entering outcomes and actions onto Shelford’s HSEQ Management Platforms

• Working with project teams to ensure that corrective actions (Observations) arising from inspections, audits or incidents are completed and closed in a timely manner

• Monitoring and reporting on site HSE performance and compliance with legislative, company and client site requirements.

• Contributing effectively to company and project health and safety meetings to achieve desired safety outcomes

About You

As the successful candidate you’ll ideally have the following:

• Certificate IV or above in Occupational Health and Safety 

• Extensive knowledge of HSE legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards  

• Site-based HSE coordination and advisory experience in a commercial construction environment 

• ICAM Lead Investigator certification and experience

• Strong leadership and influencing skills

• Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve successful outcomes  

• Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications 

• Excellent communication and people skills

• High level time management capacity

• High initiative and critical thinking ability 

• First Aid certificate.
