This key role will assist in ongoing support of innovative practices as we continue to strive towards being an industry leader in the maintenance of our fleet. Come on board with Busways as a Workshop Supervisor at one of our Region 7 depots Ryde or Willoughby depot.

Role Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Regional Workshop Manager, this role requires you to have a mature and professional approach with excellent communication skills. Your main duties will include:
Coordinating human resource matters in the areas of rosters and leave planning that complement the depot’s maintenance plans and day to day depot operations.Plan, coordinate and supervise supply and warranty activities, monitor inventory holdings so that staff have access to materials and equipment required to perform all fleet maintenance activities.Manage and supervise on a daily basis depot maintenance activities undertaken by depot maintenance employees and contractors including providing supervision to all workshop staff.Plan and allocate repair resources for all scheduled maintenance service activities, including the allocation of staff to assist with heavy vehicle inspections, to complete work when required and to maximise the availability of buses to meet the operational needs of the depot.Ensure timely and accurate service work is performed by the workshop staff including providing sufficient staff to perform workshop tasks.Ensure the workshop operates within the guidelines of WH&S standards and the workshop is kept to a clean standard.Supervise and train apprentices and staff ensuring that all staff have adequate capabilities and training to perform their necessary tasks.Ensure all accident damage is reported and repaired as required.Conduct Battery Electric Bus Lifecycle Management and complete sustainability reporting for our zero emission busses.
Our workshop staff play a critical role within the business to ensure our ever-evolving fleet of vehicles are continually maintained to the highest standard to keep our staff and passengers safe out on the road.
You can expect to be provided with all necessary training, this will include relevant information about our various makes and models of vehicles to ensure a thorough understanding of standards required to meet contract obligations.

The Successful Applicant Will
Hold the relevant trade qualifications (MVTC) essentialExperience in a similar role with the same level of responsibilities would be highly regardedMinimum 3 - 5 years working as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel MechanicMentoring apprentices to learn their trade and playing a critical role in their growth within the teamDay to day running of the workshopEnsure adherence and understanding to WHS regulations and relevant company policies Possess strong verbal and written communication skillsHave experience working in a team environment on daily maintenance and repair schedulesApply a proactive approach with a drive for continuous improvementBe physically fit to carry out the necessities of the roleWilling to undergo a pre-employment medical check, criminal history check and working with children check. Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have unrestricted working rights in AustraliaHold a current Unrestricted Australian drivers licence issued by the relevant State
Highly Regarded but Not Necessary:
Certificate III or IV in Automotive Electrical Technology (or equivalentManufacturer-specific training for BEB busses e.g., Yutong, BYD, Volvo, Scania, Custom Denning, etc.Safe work on Electric Vehicles - AS 5732:2022Battery Electric Bus (BEB) Experience, including but not limited toBattery Energy Storage System (BESS) safety and fire response trainingIsolation and de-energization proceduresThermal Runaway and Emergency response trainingBattery Management System (BMS) monitoring and troubleshootingWorkshop Scheduling for BEB-specific servicing needs
