Marine Diesel Mechanic

About the role

Based in Kettering, Tasmania, this is a full-time diesel mechanic role with Hughes Marine, specialising in service and repair of all brands of marine diesel engines, gearboxes and ancillary components. You will provide mobile marine service to the Greater Hobart region.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and repair diesel engines of all brands
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting work
• Marine engine rebuilds
• Marine 12V electrical works and repairs
• Routine repairs and servicing
• Travelling between sites (van provided)
• Keep detailed and accurate job reports
• Collaborate within team of diesel mechanics and apprentice
• Follow safety standards and procedures

About you

• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Customer service skills
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Able to rebuild and install engines
• Understanding of 12-24V electrical systems
• Valid driver's licence
• Problem solving and attention to detail
• Mechanical qualification and marine experience preferred, however not essential
