About the role

CSK Mechanical is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Marine Engineer to join our dynamic team in Charles Darwin, NT. This is a full-time position offering a fantastic opportunity to utilise your technical expertise in a fast-paced, professional environment. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy diesel engines and marine equipment, playing a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency and safety across our fleet and client operations.

What you'll be doing

• Diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical faults in heavy diesel engines and marine propulsion systems

• Performing preventative maintenance schedules and servicing on diesel engines, gearboxes, and associated marine equipment

• Conducting repairs and overhauls of engine components, including cylinders, pistons, bearings, and fuel injection systems

• Testing and commissioning repaired equipment to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards

• Maintaining detailed maintenance logs and technical documentation for all work undertaken

• Liaising with clients and internal teams to understand operational requirements and prioritise maintenance tasks

• Adhering to health and safety regulations and company procedures at all times

• Supporting the development and mentoring of junior team members where applicable

What we're looking for

• Formal qualifications in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or Marine Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related field

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience working with heavy diesel engines and marine propulsion systems

• Strong knowledge of marine engineering standards and practices, including IMO regulations where applicable

• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment relevant to diesel engine servicing and repair

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in technical work

• Valid driver's license and willingness to work flexibly, including potential offshore or remote site work

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Physical fitness to safely perform manual handling and labour-intensive tasks

• Current or ability to obtain relevant safety certifications (such as confined space, scaffolding, or marine-specific certifications)
