The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth.
 
About the role

The Finance Business Partner Lead provides expert financial advice, guidance, and support across a broad range of strategic and operational financial matters, enabling informed decision-making within the assigned Faculty or Division. Leading a team, the role is responsible for driving the financial direction of the portfolio through budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis, while operating with a high degree of autonomy and partnering closely with stakeholders to achieve organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor financial performance across the assigned portfolio, identifying opportunities for optimisation and providing timely financial insights to senior management.
• Provide strategic management accounting advice and recommendations, supporting effective decision-making and alignment with organisational objectives.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial performance discussions with senior leaders, and partner with Faculty/Division executives throughout the University budget and forecast process.
• Prepare and oversee monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and financial analysis of business performance across the portfolio, supported by a Senior Finance Business Partner.
• Contribute to and implement finance projects, plans, tools, processes, and systems that strengthen the University's financial management capability and address future challenges.
• Supervise and support a Senior Finance Business Partner, while facilitating training and development initiatives to enhance financial literacy across the University.

Qualifications, skills & experience

• Postgraduate qualifications, preferably CA/CPA or equivalent, together with extensive relevant professional experience.
• Significant experience in financial reporting, budgeting, financial modelling, and business partnering within a complex organisation, with a demonstrated ability to improve financial performance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven success in building collaborative and trusted relationships to support effective stakeholder management and business partnering.
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing competing priorities, with the ability to identify innovative solutions to meet business demands.
• High-level of knowledge in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, accountancy, numeracy, and reconciliation, supported by strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive continuous improvement and develop creative solutions to complex business challenges.
