Airside Equipment Specialists provide equipment and servicing requirements to a range of clients supporting the airline industry. Operating from Tasmania, we specialise in an array of different services including the supply of ground handling equipment and associated supporting products, new and used equipment, and airside maintenance repairs.

We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanic for an ongoing full time role offering 38 hours per week for the successful candidate based in the Launceston area.
· Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining petrol, diesel and small engines across airside equipment, vehicles and machinery
· Carrying out routine servicing, preventative maintenance and inspections to scheduled maintenance programs
· Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, fuel, hydraulic and electrical systems
· Performing minor engine overhauls, component replacements and system adjustments
· Testing equipment post-repair to confirm correct operation and compliance with safety standards
· Interpreting technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint and resolve faults
· Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activity, parts used and service schedules
· Sourcing and requisitioning parts and materials as required
· Keeping the workshop, tools and equipment clean, calibrated and in safe working order
· Working alongside production and maintenance teams to minimise downtime and hit delivery timelines
Essential
· Trade qualification in Mobile Plant Technology, Light Automotive, or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification
· Current trade certification as a qualified mechanic specialising in petrol, diesel and/or small engines
· Demonstrated expertise diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of equipment
· Strong mechanical aptitude across fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical systems and engine components
· Confidence reading technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and service schedules
· Proficiency with diagnostic tools, testing equipment and workshop machinery
· Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· A genuine commitment to workplace health and safety
· Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
· Current Australian driver's licence (manual transmission desirable)
· Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and a current Police Check
Highly regarded
· Experience with ground handling equipment or similar specialised machinery
· Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Basic welding skills
· Experience with computerised diagnostic equipment and engine management systems
· Current forklift licence and/or Working at Heights certification
· A quality focus with an eye on production times and on-time delivery
