About the Opportunity
The Paralegal Officer works within the State Redress Response Unit (SRRU) of the Attorney-General's Department providing legal, policy and information analysis services to enable the effective and efficient participation of the South Australian government in the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (the National Redress Scheme). Principal tasks include preparing responses to Requests for Information (RFls) received from the Commonwealth Scheme Operator to assist it to determine applications for redress based on information provided by the applicant. This requires seeking and obtaining information from a range of historical data sources held across a number of different government agencies, analysing and assimilating this information, and drafting a clear and appropriate response to the Commonwealth Scheme Operator within a mandatory timeframe.
The Administrative Support Officer works within the SRRU under general direction and provides effective and efficient administrative support functions to the SRRU. These include RFI processing, data entry, processing notices, archiving, filing and other administrative tasks. University students studying law or justice are encouraged to apply for the position.

About the Business
The SRRU oversees and coordinates the participation of the South Australian Government in the National Redress Scheme. The SRRU is responsible for the coordination of Requests for Information issued by the Scheme, managing requests issued to government agencies and local government for sexual abuse that occurred in connection with a government institution.

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested.
