At Synechron, we thrive on turning complex data problems into powerful business solutions and we’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Adelaide team! This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cutting-edge tech, solve real-world business challenges, and deliver impactful results!
• Designing and building scalable pipelines that drive data transformation using Azure, Fabric, and Databricks.
• Work with large datasets, optimising performance, and scalability of data workflows.
• Leveraging your Python and SQL expertise for data extraction, transformation, and integration and to develop and optimise workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that drive data strategy and business intelligence.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring best practices are followed.
• Engage directly with clients, understanding their business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
You’ll bring 5+ years of Data Engineering expertise, coupled with a strong consulting background that enables you to engage with clients, understand their needs, and deliver tailored solutions that drive real business value. You’ll also bring:
• Experience in Azure, Databricks, and Fabric.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with strong skills in ETL, ELT, and cloud-based data solutions.
• Hands-on expertise with Azure & Databricks (extra points if you’ve worked with Microsoft Fabric).
• Strong programming skills in Python & SQL.
• A consulting mindset—you’re comfortable engaging with clients and tailoring solutions to their needs.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, data ingestion, data integration and cloud architectures (most importantly, a Medallion Architecture).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Snowflake) is a bonus.
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices in a data engineering context.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications are highly advantageous.
• Previous experience in working as a Consultant is highly desirable.
• You must hold a current police clearance or be willing to obtain one at short notice.
• Baseline and/or NV1 clearances are highly advantageous.
