Working from our Paget facilities, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team completing complex component repairs and rebuilds for major mining customers.

About the Role

Absolute Enterprises is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Paget workshop team.

This is a hands-on role working on the repair, rebuild and overhaul of heavy mining and fixed-plant components, including:

• Track frames and undercarriage components

• Head shafts and drive shafts

• Trunnion rollers and support rollers

• Crushers and crusher components

• Pulleys, bearing housings and rotating equipment

• Other heavy mining and wash plant components

The role would suit a fitter who is experienced in heavy component rebuilds, takes pride in precision workmanship and understands the importance of quality, accountability and turnaround time.

Key Responsibilities

• Strip, clean, inspect and assess heavy mining and fixed-plant components.

• Identify wear, damage and repair requirements.

• Complete precision measurements using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and other measuring equipment.

• Repair, fit and assemble components in accordance with drawings, repair scopes and OEM specifications.

• Complete bearing, bush, seal, shaft and mechanical component replacement.

• Check fits, clearances, tolerances and final assembly condition.

• Assist with fault finding and determining practical repair solutions.

• Work closely with machinists, boilermakers, lineborers and supervisors to complete jobs efficiently.

• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and repair scopes.

• Complete job paperwork, inspection reports and quality documentation accurately.

• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and care of equipment.

What We’re Looking For

• Australian-recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Diesel Fitter or similar.

• Demonstrated experience repairing and rebuilding heavy mining, earthmoving or fixed-plant components.

• Strong precision measurement and mechanical fitting skills.

• Experience with large bearings, bushes, shafts, seals and interference-fit components.

• Ability to identify wear, defects and out-of-tolerance conditions.

• Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed repair scopes.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.

• Ability to take ownership of jobs from strip-down through to final assembly.

• Commitment to safe work practices and maintaining a clean workshop.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Current driver’s licence.

Experience with track frames, crushers, wash plant equipment or other heavy rotating components will be highly regarded.
