About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader Risk Advisory, you will work alongside the WHS Advisor, facilitating the implementation of Work Health and Safety strategies and initiatives across the organisation. This will involve providing advice and support to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, and promoting a positive safety culture throughout Council.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Work collaboratively with managers, supervisors and staff to promote and strengthen Council’s safety culture.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Council’s WHS Management System, strategies, processes and procedures.
• Provide practical WHS advice and support to managers and supervisors in relation to WHS legislation, risk management and safe work practices.
• Undertake incident and near-miss investigations, WHS audits, inspections and worksite assessments.
• Assist with the development, review and document control of risk assessments and the implementation of appropriate risk controls.
• Monitor changes to WHS legislation and provide relevant updates and advice to managers and supervisors.
• Prepare WHS reports and statistics and provide recommendations to support continuous improvement.
• Assist with the coordination and implementation of Council’s mandatory WHS training program, including monitoring licences, qualifications and certificates.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to implement WHS initiatives and strategies.
• Provide support to the WHS Committee and relevant working groups.
• Assist with injury management and return-to-work processes in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate WHS records and documentation in accordance with Council requirements.
• Undertake other duties as required by the Team Leader Risk Advisory.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Cert IV Work Health and Safety or relevant experience in the field of WHS or willing to undertake training
• Current Class C Driver's Licence
• WHS general construction induction White Card or willing to undertake training
• Apply First Aid Certificate or willing to undertake training
• Return to Work Coordination Certificate or willing to undertake training
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
