About the Role
The diversity of our municipality will allow the successful candidate to work across a varied range of operational and capital projects in the urban suburbs, regional townships and rural landscapes that make up our municipality.
In this role you will be responsible for the preparation of design drawings, specifications, and project plans relating to civil engineering work for both construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure (including roads, footpaths, bridges and stormwater drainage). A component of the work undertaken in the position includes undertaking engineering referrals as they relate to development(s), including liaising with customers, processing working in the road reserve applications (e.g. driveway vehicular crossings) and undertaking inspections for compliance with Council conditions.
Council offer the work/life balance you have been seeking, with office hours of 8.30am to 5pm and minimal after-hours work required.This position is based at Council’s offices at Westbury, a short 25-minute drive from the city of Launceston.
The total salary package will be negotiated subject to the successful candidate's experience and qualifications within the range of $113,938 to 129,430 (inclusive of superannuation).
About You
To be successful you will have completed a tertiary qualification in civil engineering and have a minimum of three years’ work experience in an engineering role, or an equivalent combination of training, skills & experience. This is not a graduate position.
An understanding of Australian construction standards and demonstrated experience working within these standards is essential. You will be confident in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation and standards and will clearly and confidently communicate (verbally and in writing) these requirements to other Council Officers and members of the public as required.
Experience working in Local Government will be favourable. An interest to furthering your career in engineering within Local Government and contributing to our community will be highly regarded.
You will be able to work independently but will also have a willingness to collaborate and contribute within a small team environment. You are focused but flexible in your approach to your work and thrive in fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Your well-developed time management skills allow you to shift easily, maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
The successful candidate will have a current right to work in Australia.
