Chef

Beef & Bar Restaurant is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our professional kitchen team in Darwin. We are looking for a skilled culinary professional who can consistently prepare high-quality meals, contribute to menu development and perform effectively in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in accordance with restaurant standards.
• Plan menus and contribute to the development of new dishes and seasonal specials.
• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Ensure appropriate portion control, presentation and consistency of meals.
• Prepare and cook food using a range of techniques, including grilling, roasting, frying, sautéing and baking.
• Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Monitor stock levels, food storage and inventory to minimise waste.
• Ensure food is stored and handled in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety requirements.
• Accommodate customer dietary requirements and special requests where appropriate.
• Assist with training and supervising kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen hands.
• Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient and timely meal service.
• Assist in controlling food costs and maintaining efficient kitchen operations.

Skills & Experience

• Relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Previous experience working as a Chef in a busy restaurant or commercial kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Ability to maintain quality and consistency during busy service periods.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
• Reliable, professional and committed to full-time employment.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
