Dental Assistant (Casual)

We offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Casual Dental Assistant to join our Dental clinic in Cairns for an immediate start for approximately 3-4 days per week in line with the University calendar.

Our History
The Discipline of Dentistry at James Cook University was established in 2008 in response to the challenges presented by the oral health needs of northern Australia, and its foundation is part of the College of Medicines and Dentistry's strong commitment to the provision of professional health education in the area. Ours is one of only three dental schools in Australia located outside a capital city.

Key duties Dental Assistant:

• Clinical support as required

• Sterilisation duties in the sterilising department

• Assist with the maintenance, ordering, rotation and storage of stock of clinical consumables

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation and infection control policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Certificate III in Dental Assisting (preferable)

• Must have knowledge of dental materials, medicaments and instruments used in a dental clinic

• Chairside assisting experience

• Work well in a team environment including the ability to perform as a multi-skilled team member being reliable, consistent and punctual

• Computer literacy and willingness to learn new programs

• High level of organisational, communication and team skills

• A mature and caring nature, a commitment to patient care
