Role Description The Diesel Fitter role at Ellico Group Pty Ltd is an on-site position based in Mackay, QLD. The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and performing scheduled maintenance on heavy diesel vehicles and equipment used in mining and industrial operations. Daily tasks include inspecting machinery, conducting preventive maintenance, overhauling components, and supporting breakdowns and rebuilds to minimise equipment downtime. The Diesel Fitter will work closely with supervisors and other trades to ensure safe work practices, accurate documentation, and compliance with site and company procedures. This position requires flexibility to work various shifts and adapt to changing site requirements.
Qualifications
Strong competence in Diesel Mechanics and Heavy Equipment servicing, including fault diagnosis and repair.Experience in Vehicle Maintenance and Equipment Maintenance across mobile and fixed plant assets.Demonstrated ability to implement Preventive Maintenance programs to maximise equipment reliability and lifespan.Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).Sound knowledge of safety standards and procedures in mining and industrial environments.Ability to read technical manuals, interpret diagrams, and complete clear maintenance records.Current driver’s licence; high-risk work licences and site inductions (e.g., coal board medical, Standard 11) are advantageous.Capability to work independently and as part of a team in remote or demanding on-site conditions.
