IT Support Officer

We’re looking for an experienced and solutions-focused IT Support Officer to join the Trinity Petroleum team and provide hands-on IT support across our business.

Reporting to the Head of IT, you’ll be the go-to person for day-to-day hardware and software support, helping our people get the most from their technology and ensuring our systems remain secure, reliable and operating at their best. This role does require travel in and around Cairns and nearby regions to support our sites and staff.

This is a hands-on role that will see you working across everything from user support and Microsoft 365 through to networks, servers, devices and Point of Sale (POS) and pump systems. No two days are likely to look exactly the same!

What you’ll be doing

• Providing responsive IT support to users across the business, from initial helpdesk request through to resolution.
• Troubleshooting hardware, software, network, mobile and telephony issues.
• Installing, configuring and maintaining Windows operating systems and business applications.
• Supporting and administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy and Exchange.
• Assisting with server administration, network maintenance and configuration of routing and switching.
• Supporting, maintaining and configuring POS and pump systems across the business.
• Managing IT assets, user access, devices and mobile phone fleet requirements.
• Monitoring and maintaining backups, antivirus, email and security systems.
• Supporting the implementation and testing of vendor enhancements and technology improvements.
• Maintaining IT security standards and ensuring systems are appropriately secured.
• Keeping accurate IT records, asset registers and user information up to date.
• Assisting with VOIP phone system administration and other technology projects as required.
• Researching and recommending technology solutions that meet business needs.
• Developing and maintaining IT scripts and documentation.
• Providing after-hours and weekend support on a rotating basis, approximately one week in every four, with occasional ad-hoc on-call support where required.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be someone who enjoys solving problems, helping people and getting stuck into the practical side of IT. You’ll have a strong troubleshooting mindset, good attention to detail and the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar IT support role.
• Experience providing Point of Sale (POS) support, ideally within a multi-site or retail environment.
• Experience with Windows Server administration.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration and support.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and maintenance.
• Understanding of network routing, switching and security.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, mobile devices and telephony.
• The ability to perform physical IT installations and equipment setup.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with a practical and solutions-focused approach.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to issues as they arise.
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or similar qualifications would be advantageous.
