About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Leading Hand to join our growing delivery team, executing large-scale data centre fit-out projects across the Sydney metropolitan region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading site-based construction crews of approximately 5-15 personnel, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. A trade background in carpentry is highly regarded but not essential, with experience in commercial construction and fit-out environments being critical.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively coordinate subcontractors and trades while maintaining productivity, safety, and project quality outcomes in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Supervision

• Lead and supervise site teams of 5-15 construction personnel.

• Coordinate daily work activities to ensure alignment with project schedules and milestones.

• Provide direction, mentoring, and support to site crews and subcontractors.

• Promote a positive and productive site culture.

Project Delivery

• Execute construction and fit-out works in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

• Monitor progress and identify potential delays or issues before they impact programme delivery.

• Coordinate multiple trades to ensure seamless project execution.

• Assist with site planning, material management, and resource allocation.

Safety & Compliance

• Lead by example in maintaining a strong safety culture.

• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with WHS legislation and company safety procedures.

• Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections.

• Identify hazards and implement appropriate control measures.

Quality Management

• Ensure workmanship meets client and company quality standards.

• Conduct regular quality inspections and rectify defects promptly.

• Support commissioning and handover activities where required.

• Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with Supervisors, Project Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors.

• Assist in resolving on-site issues and coordinating delivery activities.

• Maintain professional relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Leading Hand, Foreman, or Senior Tradesperson within commercial construction, fit-out, or services projects.

• Demonstrated experience leading teams of 5-15 personnel.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Strong organisational and communication skills.

• Sound understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.

• Current White Card.

• Current Driver's Licence.

• Ability to work across multiple project locations throughout the Sydney metropolitan area.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualification in Carpentry or related construction trade.

• Experience delivering data centre, mission-critical, hyperscale, commercial fit-out, or major infrastructure projects.

• First Aid Certificate.

• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.

• Working at Heights certification.

• Confined Space certification.

• Supervisory or leadership training.
